PuppEX Jammy64 (Puppy Linux) compatible with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS :: Build 230222

NEWS ABOUT PuppEX Jammy64 22.04 230222
This Puppy derivative is built from Puppy_Linux_vanillapup 22.04.39, which is build from Ubuntu packages and packages build from source. Puppy_Linux_vanillapup is the best Puppy Linux system I’ve ever tried so I decided to make it even better. My first version of PuppEX Jammy64 is from 220630.
My changes of the original system 230222:
1. I’ve replaced kernel 5.15 with kernel 6.1.12-exton with support for “extra everything”
2. Development tools (build-essential) are installed
3. Latest Firefox and Google Chrome are pre-installed
4. Added the ntfs-3g package (so NTFS partitions are writable)
5. Added GParted
6. Added video codecs (libavcodec58) so that YouTube videos and Netflix movies can run in Firefox.
The ISO size has therefore increased from 343 MB to 879 MB, but PuppEX runs nevertheless as fast as the original Puppy, which means that it runs very very fast!
NOTE: On some computers you may have to wait 60 seconds before the boot process starts. You will see a message saying “Pausing for 60 seconds…”
This error won’t occur after a hard drive (frugal) installation.
COMPATIBLE WITH Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
PuppEX Jammy64 is compatible with Ubuntu 22.04 (Jammy Jellyfish), which means that Ubuntu packages for Ubuntu 22.04 can be installed and used in PuppEX. You can use the Synaptic Package Manager or the apt command. (apt update, apt upgrade, apt install MyUsefulPackage etc).
IMPORTANT NOTE: The normal remasterpup2 script (which is included in all Puppy Linux versions) doesn’t work in Puppy_Linux_vanillapup. I had to use my “special remaster tricks” to be able to build PuppEX Jammy64. I have therefore kept my two versions of PuppEX Focal64 20.04 in which the remasterpup2 script works very well. It works very well in PuppEX Slack64 15.0 too.
NOTE about VirtualBox/VMware: You can’t run this version of PuppEX in VirtualBox or VMware. PuppEX Jammy64 runs pretty well in Qemu in Linux though.

CruxEX 3.7 live system (based on CRUX 3.7, released 220926) with LXDE and kernel 6.0.6-aufs-exton :: Build 221031

CruxEX 2022 64 bit Linux Live USB is based on CRUX 3.7 (latest version, released 220926), which is all Linux enthusiasts/nerds favorite OS. (CRUX is a lightweight Linux distribution for the x86_64 architecture targeted at experienced Linux users. The primary focus of this distribution is keep it simple, which is reflected in a straightforward tar.gz-based package system, BSD-style initscripts, and a relatively small collection of trimmed packages. The secondary focus is utilization of new Linux features and recent tools and libraries. CRUX also has a ports system which makes it easy to install and upgrade applications). CruxEX 3.7 2022 uses the LXDE Desktop environment. I have replaced the original CRUX kernel 5.15 with “my” special kernel 6.0.6-aufs-exton, with support for “extra everything”.

Unique
CruxEX 3.7 2022 build 221031 is – as my previous CRUX-remasters – unique in the world. I.e. there is no other CRUX Live CD/USB (as far as I know). In any case, not for downloading. The good thing with CruxEX is that it is a live system (which CRUX original isn’t) and that you can run CruxEX super fast from RAM. Also that you can install CruxEX to hard drive in about 5 minutes and then have a ready-to-go CRUX desktop system. You can after that install any (extra) desktop environment you like. NOTE: You can (of course) install new Desktops environments and other stuff also when running CruxEX from a USB stick – PERSISTENCE! Note also: To make CRUX original ready for everyday use will normally take 2 – 3 days!

RaspEX Rpi4 based on upcoming Ubuntu 22.04 LTS “Jammy Jellyfish” with LXDE, kernel 5.15.24-exton-v7l+, Raspotify, RealVNC, PuTTy, Samba and Bluetooth :: Build 220228

NEWS 220228 about RaspEX with LXDE based on upcoming Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Jammy Jellyfish.
I have upgraded the whole system and replaced the old kernel 5.10.87-exton-v7l+ with kernel 5.15.24-exton-v7l+. RaspEX Build 220228 is a Linux ARM (32bit) system for Raspberry Pi 4 with 2GB/4GB/8GB RAM and Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, Raspberry Pi 3 Model B or Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. It is based on Debian, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and Linaro (Open Source software for ARM SoCs). Both Firefox and Chromium Browser are pre-installed. I have also installed Samba and RealVNC so you can connect to your Windows computers in your Home Network and/or control RaspEX on your Raspberry Pi 4 from your Windows computers with VNC Viewer and/or PuTTY (Telnet and SSH client). Furthermore some extra Network Tools, SMTube (YouTube browser which allows to browse, search and play YouTube videos), PulseAudio for better sound in YouTube and RaspotifyRaspotify is a Spotify Connect client for Raspbian on the Raspberry Pi that just works. Study all installed packages in RaspEX Build 220228.

Most IMPORTANT News/Changes in Build 220228
1. I have installed an old version of Chromium with DRM/Widevine support, which means that you can watch Netflix (and possibly also HBO, YouTube TV, Amazon Prime Video, etc.) using the Chromium Browser. I did that following the instructions here.
2. In this build of RaspEX you can also run Chromium/Firefox logged in as root. You will have sound, which you normally won’t have as root on Debian/Ubuntu systems.

Yet another version of RaspEX Kodi 64-bit :: Now based on Debian 11 with the LXQt Desktop and Kodi 19.3 “Matrix” :: Build 220221

NEWS 220221 about RaspEX Kodi 64-bit
I’ve made a new extra version of RaspEX Kodi 64-bit. This version is based on Raspbian (Raspberry Pi OS) and Debian Bullseye (Debian 11 stable). The LXDE Desktop is replaced with LXQt 0.16.0 which has a more “modern look” than LXDE. Historically, LXQt is the product of the merge between LXDE-Qt, an initial Qt flavour of LXDE, and Razor-qt, a project aiming to develop a Qt based desktop environment with similar objectives as the current LXQt. In RaspEX Kodi Build 220221 I’ve upgraded Kodi to version 19.3 Matrix since it has reached the “stable stage”. You can now much easier install extra repositories. Read about the best Kodi repos 2022.

NEW FEATURES
NOTE1
: This RaspEX Kodi 64bit version has DRM support in the Chromium Browser. It means that you can use Chromium to play Netflix videos and also run Spotify Web Player! Possibly other videos too, but I haven’t tried any (yet).
NOTE2: Build 220221 (64bit) is missing the Netflix add-on in Kodi. Widevine CDM (which is necessary for Netflix to work) is not available natively on ARM64. As regards the Chromium Browser (DRM support) I solved the problem by installing a 32bit version of Chromium!
NOTE3: I’ve also enabled VIDEO ACCELERATION in this version of RaspEX Kodi, which means that the video playback is pretty smooth. Watch this screenshot, which shows that the 3D drivers are loaded.

The “final” version of RaspEX Kodi 32-bit :: Now based on Debian 11 stable with the LXQt Desktop and Kodi 19.3 “Matrix” stable with the Netflix add on :: Build 220218

NEWS 220218 about RaspEX Kodi
I’ve made a new version of RaspEX Kodi 32-bit. In RaspEX Kodi Build 220218 I’ve upgraded Kodi to version 19.3 Matrix since it has reached the “stable stage” . It was therefore now possible to install the Netflix add-on among many other add-ons. You can now also much easier install extra repositories. Read about the best Kodi repos 2022.

REPLACEMENT and NEW FEATURES
This RaspEX Kodi Build (220218) replaces all five (5) previous versions of RaspEX Kodi. Also the 64bit-version. (I’m planning to make a new 64bit-version soon). The great thing with this RaspEX Kodi version is that it has DRM support in the Chromium Browser. It means that you can use Chromium to play Netflix videos and also run Spotify Web Player! Possibly other videos too, but I haven’t tried any. Watch a screenshot when Netflix is running. Watch a screenshot when Spotify is running. I’ve also enabled VIDEO ACCELERATION in RaspEX Kodi, which means that the video playback is pretty smooth. Watch this screenshot, which shows that the 3D drivers are loaded. There is almost no need for Kodi in RaspEX anymore since the Chromium Browser works so well. (Excellent video and sound performance).

LATEST NEWS ABOUT CruxEX 220104
I have released a new version of CruxEX today. This version has VirtualBox Guest Additions pre-installed, which means (among other things) that you can run CruxEX in VirtualBox in full screen. Read about how to install and run CruxEX from a USB stick in VirtualBox. Watch a screenshot when CruxEX is running i VirtualBox in full screen. (Using VirtualBox Guest Additions).

CruxEX 2022 64 bit Linux Live USB is based on CRUX 3.6.1 (latest version, released 201212), which is all Linux enthusiasts/nerds favorite OS. (CRUX is a lightweight Linux distribution for the x86_64 architecture targeted at experienced Linux users. CruxEX 3.6.1 2022 uses the LXDE Desktop environment. I have replaced the original CRUX kernel 5.10 with “my” special kernel 5.15.12-exton-amd64, with support for “extra everything”.

Replacement
My first remaster of CRUX 3.6.1 is from 201223. Now (220104) I have upgraded all included packages and replaced kernel 5.9.15-exton with kernel 5.15.12-exton-amd64. Study the most important upgraded packages.

Kernel and installed packages
Kernel 5.15.12 is the latest available stable kernel as of 220104. Among all installed and updated applications are Firefox, Google Chrome (for Netflix), GParted, PCManFM, Pulseaudio, Slim Login Manager, Gimp and NetworkManager. Furthermore compilation tools so that you can install programs from source. Note: Google Chrome is not in CRUX repositories. Nvidia Graphics Driver 470.94 is pre-installed. It will be automatically used if your computer has support for it. Furthermore I’ve installed VirtualBox Guest Additions so that you can run CruxEX in full screen in VirtualBox. Watch this screenshot.

Unique
CruxEX 3.6.1 2022 build 220104 is – as my previous CRUX-remasters – unique in the world. I.e. there is no other CRUX Live CD/USB (as far as I know). In any case, not for downloading. AndEX (Android-x86_64) Pie 9.0 with GAPPS (Google Play Store etc.), Aurora Store, Spotify and Netflix – Build 210411 (with Netflix) and 200301 (without Netflix)

NEWS 210411 about AndEX Pie 9.0 with GAPPS
A new build of AndEX Pie is ready. It has GAPPS (Google Play Store etc), Aurora Store, Netflix, Spotify and many other apps pre-installed. I’ve replaced Pie Launcher with Launcher for Mac OS Style. The best launcher I’ve ever tried.

MORE NEWS 210411 about AndEX Pie 9.0
My first build of AndEX Pie is from 190912. In this new build I’ve upgraded all included apps and added Spotify. My upgraded build of Android x86_64 – andex-pie-x86_64-gapps-aurora-netflix-spotify-1580mb-210411.iso – can be installed to hard drive or on a USB stick. You can also run the system live. I.e. from a DVD or a USB stick. On some computers you’ll have to start up AndEX 9.0 in compatibility mode (VESA) though. The sound and video performance is generally very very good. Google Play Store works very well in this build of AndEX Pie. So does the Netflix and Spotify app. If you have a touchscreen you can also (for example) run CarX Drift Racing 2, Hunting Clash, Nova Empire and Bowling Crew Clash.

Upgrade from previous versions of AndEX Pie?
If you already have AndEX Pie Build 190912 or 200301 up and running there is no need to acquire the newest version from 210411. Just upgrade all apps to the latest version of today and you’re done! Use Google Play Store for that. You can of course also install for example Google Maps, Google Earth, YouTube, Aurora Store, Spotify, Mint Browser and Google Play Games yourself if you want.

RaspAnd 11 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 with GAPPS (Google Play Store), Netflix, Spotify, Bluetooth, Aurora Store and Clash of Clans pre-installed :: Build 210321

ABOUT RaspAnd 11 – Build 210321 – with GAPPS
RaspAnd 11 runs very well on a Raspberry Pi 4. I.e. the system is pretty responsive if you use a micro SD card of good quality. RaspAnd 11 has the following apps pre-installed: GAPPS (Google Play Store and other Google apps), Netflix, Spotify, Midori Browser, Aurora Store, Clash of Clans and AIDA64.

ABOUT Android 11, which was released 200908…

PLEASE NOTE that you must be aware of the fact that the Raspberry Pi 4 computer has its limitations and that Android 11 is a very advanced Linux system. Having said that I must also say that the apps I have included in this Build (see above) work very well. The max screen resolution is 1680×1050. With higher resolutions Netflix won’t work.

NOTE also that you’ll have to register “your device” (i.e. your Rpi4) before you can log in to Google Play Store. Please read my instructions at the INFO site about how to register so that your device will be Play Protect Certified.

About Raspberry Pi 4
This build (RaspAnd 11 210321) works very well on the new Raspberry Pi 4. I used the latest model with 8GB RAM, but you can of course use the other models too.
